Program Description

This program helps people who are not yet working in masonry and want to learn the basics.

 It teaches them the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare for gaining an entry-level position in this trade.

Program Length
Program has two parts: In-School Training & Work Placement Training
In-School “Year 1 Ready Stream”: 4.5 months more or less
Paid Work Placement: 2 months minimum
In-School “Try a Trade Stream”: 2 months more or less
Paid Work Placement: 2 months minimum
We will decide which STREAM you will be placed in.

 

In-School and Work Placement are both FULL TIME Hours

Program Cost
This program is FREE! There is NO Tuition! 

All thanks to the Government of Ontario for fully funding the program. The program will also provide you the following items:

FREE Masonry Tools

FREE Textbook

FREE Safety Gear

FREE Safety Training

There is also PAID Work Placement after the training!

When you successfully complete the training, we will match you with a masonry employer to apply what you learned on a jobsite!

1) Proof of Age – 18 years old or higher

Baptismal Certificate

Nexus Card

Birth Certificate

Ontario/Canadian Registration Card

Driver's License

Ontario Photo Card (New Ontario ID Card)

Passport (Valid or Expired)

2) Proof of SIN – Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residence

SIN Card

Government Income Tax Form

Record of Employment (ROE)

3) Proof of Education – Completion of Grade 10 or higher

Academic Transcript

Trade Certificate

Secondary School Diploma

Academy Upgrade Certificate

GED Certificate

Postsecondary Certificate, Diploma or Degree

If education is not from Canada, you need to have it assessed by ICAS at www.icascanada.ca or any other approved Education Credential Assessment Centres.
Program Curriculum
Students will learn to safely and properly operate hand and power tools, as well as equipment commonly found on construction sites. They will also have opportunities to use masonry materials and supplies for practicing the selection, preparation, and installation of masonry materials.
Upon completing this program, graduates may be eligible for exemption from the Level 1 in-school Apprenticeship Program if they decide to pursue a traditional Apprenticeship Program
